The safest place for your pet is at home, therefore it is important to ensure that your pet will always find its way home to you!!
It is a local council requirement that and all puppies & kittens being purchased or re-homed be microchipped by 12 weeks of age and registered by 6 months of age. This rule also applies to all adult pets in ownership on or after July 1, 1999.
Pet microchipping is a quick & painless procedure that can be done at anytime. Many people choose to have microchipping done during a vaccination consult. The pet microchip is a small rod the size of a grain of rice, which is easily placed under the skin between your pet’s shoulder blades. Each microchip has an individual barcode to enable identification of your pet. Dr Spot will enter your pet’s microchip details onto the NSW Companion Animal Register.
In addition to microchipping it is also a legal requirement that all pets be registered with your local council. Lifetime council registration carries a one off payment. Registration of your pet is done through the local council. Please see their website for more information.
